If you are looking for a sleepy south shore stop on your way out to the Hamptons, you can't beat Eastport, comprised of a luncheonette, deli, several antique shops, and now Art and Soul Gallery. I went out to drop Two If By Sea out to the gallery and to check out owner and artist Frank Latorre's paintings. The gallery, which opened three months ago, represents several local artists, and features a 'juried' section-- artist Louise Millmann received an honorable mention last month. Latorre, also a musician, hosts live music almost every Sunday afternoon, so check out his site for details if you are in the area.
Right across from Art and Soul is my favorite spot on Long Island for antiques. Lloyds is the type of rambling space where you could spend a good while perusing all sorts of reasonably priced furnishings. Not in the market for anything in particular, I fell in love with this sturdy and cheerful 'goldilocks' chair, one of the many dusty treasures I found.
