Grand Central Station

Ever since the misguided dismantling of the original Pennsylvania Station, Grand Central Station has become even more precious. A cathedral built for the industrial age, its scale gives it an awe-inspiring vastness similar to its cousins in Europe. Seen here is the interior of Antwerp's Centraal Station, an excellent example of the melding of two eras of architecture. As our country looks to invest in a high-speed rail system, we should not leave out the importance of our staions.

So true, we so often demolish rather than preserve and isolate rather than integrate. Other stunning examples of train stations that have been brought into the C21 are Gare de Valenciennes in France with its light railway system, Gare de Bruxelles-Luxembourg and the Eurostar Terminal at St Pancras in London. Grand Central is so impressive I can't wait until the LIRR stops there and I can experience the space more often.
... also you are impossibly chic in that shot!
